Eating Butter in the City of David
There is evidence of human settlement in the area of the City of David hill from the Chalcolithic period, including clusters of butter-churn fragments. Bowls and kraters were also found, and so were cup marks (rock-cut depressions) whose purpose is unknown. Dwellings from this period have not yet been found in the City of David.
