After 2,000 Years: the Sound of a Golden Bell
In the Pictures: In the drainage channel under the pilgrimage road, objects were discovered that had found their way there under various circumstances. Among them were stone vessels from the Second Temple period engraved with the image of the Temple candelabrum (Menorah), as well as a golden bell with a loop that had hung from a robe.
Because the Bible (Exodus 28:24) notes that golden bells adorned the robes of the high priest, and because the bell was discovered near the Temple Mount, it may be suggested that it fell off the garment of one of the high priests.
