Hezekiah’s Days of Greatness
At the end of the eighth century BCE, Hezekiah son of Ahaz came to the throne. Contrary to his forefathers, Hezekiah was known as a righteous and honest king who implemented religious reforms to make the Temple in Jerusalem the sole place of worship. Hezekiah lived during the difficult period in which the kingdom of Israel ceased to exist, and Judah was subjugated to and heavily taxed by the Assyrian Empire. Isaiah the prophet preached in Judah during this fateful period.
